Orchestra Nova presented a concert of engaging music for an appreciative audience at the Lake Macquarie Performing Arts Centre.
The program was a lot of fun to prepare under the direction of guest conductor Andrew Chubb.
The program included a selection of overtures from a brief period in the early nineteenth century, including Rosamunde by Schubert, Cariolan by Beethoven, Fingal’s Cave by Mendelssohn, and The Barber of Seville by Rossini.
Nova’s own principal clarinetist, Claire Gibbons, delighted with a superb performance of Weber’s Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra.
Despite the weather being cold, dreary and wet, the atmosphere inside was warm and congenial, and the program was enjoyed by the audience and orchestra alike.
A program of music from the British Isles. A terrific start to the year’s concerts with lots of familiar favourites on the program and a delightful presentation by the Scotia Highland Dancers.
